Kathmandu, March 30: Constituent Assembly Chairperson Subas Nembang on Monday urged the major political parties to immediately take steps to hold negotiations to forge consensus on disputed issues of the constitution. Speaking to journalists at a tea reception held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nembang clarified the CA meeting scheduled for April 6 was summoned for sake of agreement.
He
added the working schedule of the meeting had not yet been prepared while
stressing the constitution drafting process would move ahead in line with
prevailing regulations and practice in case of failure to reach a consensus. "The party leaders must take
the initiative to make the constitution an instrument of agreement in order to
institutionalize the achievements of the past movements, and if agreement
cannot be reached there must be an agreement on initiating the process,"
Nembang said. He also called on the journalists to play their role to help
bring the warring leaders on a single platform.
