Kathmandu, Sept 6: Prof Dr Govinda KC on Sunday
broke his 14-day long fast-unto-death demanding affordable access to the
public in medical services, education and an end to political
intervention in medical and educational institutes.
The veteran orthopedic surgeon launched the hunger strike for the sixth time to press for implementation of the Tribhuvan University's former Vice Chancellor, Kedar Bhakta Mathema Report.
The doctor broke his strike by taking juice from Phurba Lama, 38, of Mukot-3 of Upper Dolpa and 18 year old Subani Upreti in the presence of Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi.
KC is a veteran surgeon at TU Teaching Hospital and also a professor. After breaking his hunger strike after an agreement with the government, Dr KC termed it as a victory of 30 million Nepali people.
KC reached 11-point agreement with the government on Saturday night. He said he continued his strike until Sunday for peace and constitution.
