I will vacate post after delivering new Constitution: PM Koirala

Kathmandu, March 27: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said he would vacate the post only after the delivery of the new constitution. At a talk programme on 'Constitution writing and Girijababu' organized by Nepal Press Union at his residence on Friday, PM Koirala said if the consensus eludes again, there is no alternative to bringing constitution through a vote in the Constituent Assembly. "I'm not greedy of power and post. I'll quit from the post immediately after delivering the constitution," he stressed.

Journalists should write in a way that would promote consensus, reconciliation and unity.   According to him, the ruling coalition has moved away from the consensus efforts, but the UCPN (Maoist) was rigid at its position. Only democratic process is the key to the constitution making.   On the occasion, he released two books namely 'Nepal's Flag', and 'A Decade of Journalism in Karnali'. The Nepal's Flag is penned by Nawal Prasad Shastri while the later by LP Devkota, chairperson of NPU Jumla Chapter.

At the programme, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, said it would take no time at all to issue the new constitution if the top leaders of the big parties rose above the party interests and gave a thought about the country and people.  General Secretary Sitaula said the late GP Koirala was so patriotic leader that he took every political decision as per the aspiration of the country and people. The late Koirala while being at the eleventh hour of his life, urged UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to be responsible.
