PM directs Army to work with responsibility

Kathmandu, April 12:
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, has directed the army officers to dedicate their life to the service of the country and the countrymen with a sense of understanding in mind, responsibility on shoulders and honesty in heart. Addressing the Officer Cadet Training Commissioning Parade Ceremony organised at the Nepalese Military Academy, Kharipati today, the Prime Minister, who is also the Defence Minister, praised the Nepalese Army (NA) for its contribution to securing the country's borders and security to the people.
He said the NA's contribution to the peacekeeping in the international sector along with its professional efficiency, sincerity and dutifulness has made all the Nepalis proud.
Every country's army should develop and establish itself into an outstanding, professional and dignified organisation and enforce the rule of law while remaining under the command of a constitutional government, the Prime Minister said.
PM Koirala said the Army should make every effort to mobilize in a professional and honest manner at times of national disasters and emergency and to protect the country and the people from terrorism.
The Prime Minister also wished success to the Army rank and file to fulfill the responsibility entrusted on them following the principle laid down by the State as the security service providers of the nation and the country.
While congratulating the newly-commissioned officers who are getting appointment to the post of Second Lieutenant after having successfully completing the training and becoming adept gaining the knowledge, skills and practice required for providing security to the country and the people, he wished for their bright future and continued success.
Insignia of Second Lieutenant presented
One hundred and thirty personnel including 87 officer cadets and 43 JCOs and Sergeant officers completed the training.
After the parade, the officer cadets were commissioned and decorated with the insignia of Second Lieutenant.
Among those presented with the insignia today include four women cadets and four foreign army cadets including two from Nigeria and one each from Bangladesh and Kenya.
