Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has expressed confidence on the political parties reaching agreement through constant dialogue, cooperation, unity and reconciliation. Inaugurating the National Lalit Art Exhibition in Kathmandu today, PM Koirala urged the opposition to leave behind its agitation programme, as the country's needs were peace, constitution, stability, democracy and development.
Underscoring the need to institutionalise the achievements made so far as the main priority of the hour, he noted that the possibility for agreement would narrow with the delay in making effort for the same. Saying the role of artists was important to take Nepali art to the global arena and give recognition to Nepal, the prime minister gave word that the government would support in the promotion of the field of art. Similarly, Chancellor of Nepal Lalit Art Academy Ragini Upadhyaya highlighted the role of artists in maintaining peace, stability and people's rule in the country. Artiste-duo Prem Man Chitrakar and Manoj Babu Bista were felicitated during the programme for their notable contribution in the field of Lalit art. The art exhibition that commenced today will run for one month.
