Sindure and tongue pierced festival

Bhaktapur, 15 April.A famous festival of tongue-piercing which is celebrated on 2nd of Baisakh (vikram sambat) every year was observed at Bode, Madhyapur Thimi of Bhaktapur today. 34 year old Jujubhai Baas Shrestha of Bode has pierced his tongue for the seventh time in the festival.
His tongue was pierced by a 10 inch long needle. Baas Shrestha, who has been piercing his tongue on the same day for the past six years said he continued with it to preserve the culture. Meanwhile, denizens of Madhyapur Thimi municipality area marked Sindure Jatra-- Sutha: Siya today itself.
At the initiation of the Sindure Jatra, chariot of Balkumari and Kalika or Baalaakhu was taken out from Balkumari temple in the morning whereas chariot of Bishnubir and South Barahi have been kept at the temple since yesterday.
His tongue was pierced by a 10 inch long needle. Baas Shrestha, who has been piercing his tongue on the same day for the past six years said he continued with it to preserve the culture. Meanwhile, denizens of Madhyapur Thimi municipality area marked Sindure Jatra-- Sutha: Siya today itself.
