Kathmandu, April
7: The Opposition Front led by Unified CPN-Maoist has called off the strike previously scheduled to continue for the next two days. The meeting of the Front held this evening to evaluate the strike decided to call it off. Despite a few groups voicing for continuing the general strike, Unified Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madheshi Janadhikar Forum - Democratic Chair Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar proposed calling off of the strike citing negative impact on public.
Likewise the meeting decided of organizing a general assembly at Rautahat and planning new agitation programs in the next meeting of the Front. Previously, in a meeting with industrialists held this morning, Unified Maoist Chair Dahal had expressed assurance on proposing the cancellation of strike program in the Front's meeting.
