A meeting of the top leaders of the Nepali Congress, the CPN (UML) and the UCPN (Maoist) held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar today discussed making preparation for a common programme on behalf all the parties.

UML vice-chairman Bhim Rawal said the meeting of the top leadership of the three major parties today deliberated on how to systematise the overall rescue, relief and reconstruction works in the quake-affected areas and on all the parties moving ahead with unity and a common resolve at the hour of national crisis.

The major parties agreed on discussing the action plans of all the parties for preparation by the government of clear policy and programmes ahead of the Parliament meeting and incorporating the same and then on giving it the final shape.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala proceeded ahead the discussions in a bid to forge broader understanding among all the parties for bringing a special resolution proposal on behalf the government for rescue and relief purposes, Nepali Congress central committee member and Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Mahesh Acharya, said.

The meeting of the leadership of the three parties discussed on all the parties bringing a long-term plan of action for relief and rehabilitation in the quake-affected areas in unison rather than being divided into ruling parties or the opposition parties at this hour of disaster.

The major parties also in the meeting expressed their consent to the government's request to the teams from different countries that have arrived here for rescue operation along with relief and rehabilitation packages to go back to their countries with thanks, UCPN (Maoist) vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said.

The three major parties have agreed to send all the teams from different countries except the expert teams needed to their respective countries with thanks as the rescue works have reached the final leg.
